Crochet Stitch Reference

Single Crochet (sc)
Insert hook into chain or stitch, yarn over hook and draw the yarn through the stitch, to make two loops on hook. Yarn over hook and draw through two loops on hook, ending with one loop on hook.

Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Yarn over hook, insert hook into chain or stitchs, yarn over hook and draw the yarn through the stitch, to make three loops on the hook. Yarn over hook and draw through three loops on hook, ending with one loop on hook.

Double Crochet (dc)
Yarn over hook, insert hook into chain or stitch, yarn over hook and draw the yarn through the stitch to make three loops on the hook, (yarn over hook, pull through two loops on the hook) twice, ending with one loop on the hook.

Treble Crochet (tr)
Yarn over hook twice, insert hook into chain or stitch, yarn over hook and draw the yarn through the stitch to make four loops on the hook, (yarn over hook, pull through two loops on the hook) three times, ending with one loop on the hook.

Double Treble Crochet (dtr)
Yarn over hook three times, insert hook into chain or stitch, yarn over hook and draw the yarn through the stitch to make five loops on the hook, (yarn over hook, pull through two loops on the hook) four times, ending with one loop on the hook.

2dctog
Leaving last loop of each stitch on hook work 2 dc, yarn over hook and pull through all three loops, ending with one loop on hook.

 

Turning Chains
Single Crochet – 1 chain
Half Double Crochet – 2 chains, or 1 single crochet, 1 chain
Double Crochet – 3 chains, or 1 single crochet, 2 chains
Treble – 4 chains, or 1 single crochet, 3 chains
Double Treble – 5 chains, or 1 single crochet, 4 chains
