My first attempt at designing a lace pattern, it worked well on paper, didn’t translate so easily into knitting! After many hours of knitting numerous samples, and endless mugs of good strong tea, I finally completed the pattern.
Chris has just asked how you knit strong cups of tea, Chris has just had his yarn stash taken away from him!!
Augustine Lace Knitting Pattern
k – knit
p – purl
st/sts – stitch/stitches
yo – yarn over
k2togtbl – knit 2 sts together through back of loop
k2tog – knit 2 sts together
k3tog – knit 3 sts together
Cast on multiples of 6 sts + 5
Row 1: K2, *k1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2togtbl* repeat to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 2: Purl.
Rows 3 – 10: Repeat Rows 1 & 2, 4 more times.
Row 11: K1, yo, *k3tog, yo, k3, yo* repeat to last 4 sts, k3tog, yo, k1.
Row 12: Purl.
Row 13: K2, *yo, k2tog, k4* repeat to last 3 sts, yo, k2tog, k1.
Row 14: Purl.
Row 15: K3, *yo, k2tog, k1, k2tog, yo, k1* repeat to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 16: Purl.
These 16 rows form the pattern.
