American Crochet Terms used throughout.
4 ply cotton yarn in 2 colours (sample used approsimately 50g Patons Kiwi, and approximately 25g Performance Cotton Queen in white)
The sample has 43 circles in total, making a necklace about 16”/40cm long, the pattern can easily be adapted to suit virtually any length.
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
inc – increase
dec – decrease
st(s) – stitch(es)
sk – skip
beg – beginning
yo – yarn over
Using green, *2ch, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st into 1st sc* Repeat until desired length of necklace is reached. When working subsequent circles, after 3sc turn work for remaining 3sc. Do not fasten off after last circle, sl st into next sc to start the Ruffles.
Row 1: 8ch (counts as 1dc, 5ch), 1dc in next circle in 1st st after sl st, *5ch, 1dc in next circle in 1st st after sl st* work from * to * to end of circles, 1ch, turn. (Assuming 43 circles in total, there will be 42 5ch spaces).
Row 2: *Sk dc, 1sc in each of the next 2 ch, [1sc, 1ch, 1sc] in next ch, 1sc in each of next 2 ch* repeat to end of row, sl st in 3rd chain of starting chain of Row 1, 1ch, turn.
Row 3: *3sc, [1sc, 1ch, 1sc] in 1ch space, 3sc* repeat to end of row, 1ch, turn.
Row 4: *4sc, [1sc, 1ch, 1sc] in 1ch space, 4sc* repeat to end of row, 1ch, turn.
Row 5: *5sc, [1sc, 1ch, 1sc] in 1ch space, 5sc* repeat to end of row, 1ch, turn.
Row 6: *6sc, [1sc, 1ch, 1sc) in 1ch space, 6sc* repeat to end of row. Fasten off.
With right side facing, skip first circle, (a button will be sewn on here), and join white in the next circle, in 2nd sc from dc in Row 1. Petals will be worked over 3sc around top of each circle.
*[5ch, sl st in same sc, 5ch, sl st in next sc] 3 times omitting last 5ch, sl st in next circle, in 2nd sc from dc in Row 1* repeat from * to * across all circles except the last one.
Sl st into last circle as before, then sl st into each of the next 2 sc, make a chain long enough to fit around the button, sl st in same sc and fasten off. Sew in all loose ends and sew a button to the first circle that was omitted when starting the Flowers.
