Sew in all ends before joining segments. Making sure you have the right side facing, join yarn into the BLO of 1st sc at the top of a segment.

Round 1: 1ch, 1sc in same place as join, working in BLO 1sc in next st, then in each of the sts around, sl st in 1st sc. (12 sts)

Round 2: 1ch, 1sc in same place, then 1sc in each st around, sl st in 1st sc. Repeat this for 4 rounds, then fasten off.

Using a contrast yarn, oversew the sides of each segment together, using cross stitches to add detail.

Round 6: 1ch, 1sc in same place, 1sc in each st around, sl st in 1st sc to join, fasten off. (15 sts)

Cord
The Crochet Cord, is the one used in this pattern. You could also work 6sc into a mc and sc in each st until you reach the desired length. Alternatively you could use a plaited cord.

Once the cord is complete, feed the ends through the 5ch loop on the top, then into the 4ch loop on the segments, sew into place on the segments only allowing the top to be opened.
